Meg Shaughnessy, E-RYT, YACEP, is the former owner of Southside Om Yoga and Yoga Center Manhattan. She has been a student and teacher for over 10 years in a variety of settings. Meg has taught a wide variety of classes from Kids Yoga to Chair Yoga to Gentle Yoga to Vinyasa and Flow.


Meg's Yoga Experience:

As a studio owner for almost five of her 10 teaching years, Meg has taught steadily. She has introduced Yoga to children as young as two and adults as young as 80. Meg has also taught in elementary and high schools throughout Chicago's South Side.  She taught Yoga for college credit at Kankakee Community College, created Om Yoga Teacher Training (Yoga Alliance) and led presentations for many organizations interested in bringing Yoga to their communities.


During her working experience, she has continued her education through a variety of workshops and trainings. She is most thankful for the Yoga work of Kate Potter and Baron Baptiste.


While her continuing education has added up over the years, the lessons she learned from the experiences below greatly influence her classes.

What you should know about Meg:

Meg truly believes in Yoga as a life-long practice. She loves Yoga because it is for all bodies and abilities. She encourages Yoga students to find their own challenge and their own ease with each pose. Through personal experience, she knows Yoga can be a tool to get through the rough times and the good times. Overall, Yoga has taught her to appreciate every moment, the good and the bad. Through Yoga she is able to more fully stay present, mindful and kind in the face of adversity.  Yoga won't make you or your life perfect but it will help you appreciate your life for what it is and what your life is - is up to you.
